A road to reach new heights in the road sector

New Delhi, March 26: Along with electric power, water service and ports, but now road development and improvement have begun to progress rapidly. The Indian government is promoting the revival of road projects suspended due to difficulties with land acquisition and cost overruns by providing additional loans in cooperation with major banks. A road to reach new heights in road sector, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari always holds hands to progress for Infrastructure.

Union Minister Nitin_Gadkari approved construction work and up-gradation to 2 Lane with paved shoulder on Chennai - Sudhmahadev - Goha - Khellani - Kishtwar - Vailoo - Donipawa - Ashajipora section of NH-244 worth Rs. 398.51 Cr on EPC mode in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
 
 
He also approved construction work and up-gradation to 2 Lane with paved shoulder from start of Kishtwar bypass to end of Helmet top bypass on Khellani-Chattroo-Khanabal section of NH-244 worth Rs. 859.67 Cr in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir
 
 
 
 
India has the second-largest road network in the world, spanning a total of 5.89 million kilometres (kms). This road network transports 64.5% of all goods in the country and 90% of India’s total passenger traffic uses road network to commute. 
 
Having nearly achieved its target of developing 10,000km of roads a year, the government aims to build 15,000km in fiscal 2017, which began April 1. It wants to complete the bidding process for a total of 30,000km of roads over the next three years from year 2017. This target seems to be completed within few months of 2021. 
Union Minister approved the package VII Chennai - Sudhmahadev - Goha - Khellani - Kishtwar - Vailoo - Donipawa - Ashajipora section of NH-244 worth Rs. 260.40 Cr in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
 
 
 
He also approved 49 Km spur to Haridwar from Delhi - Dehradun economic corridor and 101 Km long Nagal - Ambala stretch which is part of Bareilly - Ludhiana economic corridor has been included in Bharatmala Pariyojana phase - 1.
The Government, through a series of initiatives, is working on policies to attract significant investor interest. A total of 200,000 km of national highways is expected to be completed by 2022.
In the next five years, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be able to generate Rs. 1 lakh crore (US$ 14.30 billion) annually from toll and other sources.
