New Delhi, April 2: Tremendous progress has been attained in the building of National Highways across the country in the last few years by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. India on the roadmap of New India has achieved the record-breaking milestone of constructing 37 kilometres highways per day in the year 2020-21, which is unprecedented.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that the length of National Highways has gone up by 50 percent from more than 91 thousand kilometres to more than one lakh 37 thousand kilometres in the last seven years.
Briefing reporters in New Delhi, the Minister said, over thirteen thousand kilometres of roads have been constructed in the last financial year. He said the achievement was made despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nitin Gadkari yesterday felicitated the officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and presented the letters of appreciation. The Minister said that this would not have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of the officials and other stakeholders. He said that these achievements are unprecedented and have no parallel in any other country in the world.

1. Upgradation and rehabilitation of a section of NH 361F from Parli to Gangakhed has been approved with a budget of 224.44 Cr.
2. Construction of bridge across Manjra river near Yesgi village in Nanded district on NH 63 has been approved with a budget of 188.69 Cr.
3. Upgradation of the section of Amgaon-Gondia on NH 543 has been approved with a budget of 239.24 Cr.
4. Upgradation of a section of Tarere - Gaganbawda - Kolhapur on NH 166 G has been approved with a budget of 167 Cr
5. Construction of flyover at Nagpur RTO Chowk to Nagpur University Campus and 4 lane flyover at Wadi/MIDC Junction on NH 53 has been approved with a budget of 478.83 Cr.
6. Upgradation of a section of Tirora-Gondia state highway including a construction length of 28.2 km on NH 753 has been approved with a budget of 288.13 Cr.
The minister said despite the pandemic and farmers' agitation which resulted in Rs 10,000 crore toll revenue loss, the toll collection this fiscal has been Rs 34,000 crore as against Rs 24,000 crore last year.
