Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off LHB coaches of Bhubaneswar-Jagadalpur Hirakhand Express

New Delhi, September 11: The new LHB coach of Train No. 08445/08446 Bhubaneswar-Jagadalpur Hirakhand Express was flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on Friday.

The Linke-Hofmann-Busch or LHB coaches will be replacing the conventional ones. The modern coaches are anti-telescopic and hence, do not flip in case of a collision. They are safer, lighter, more comfortable and jerk-free, said an East Coast Railway (ECoR) release.
 
 
 
The ministers flagged off the new rake from the Bhubaneswar railway station via video conference from the Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, it said.
 
"PM Modi has been stressing upon the need for bringing about reforms in Railways. The vision is to make a wholesome transformation and not just incremental changes. Our government is pursuing these projects on an express mode. Every year about Rs. 6000 Cr. to 7000 Cr. Rupees is being sanctioned in the budget for the development of rail infrastructure in Odisha. This Union Government is committed to provide better connectivity and amenities to our esteemed passengers," said Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Introducing the new modern LHB rakes in Hirakhand Express will now give a better and more pleasant experience to train passengers, he added.

Hirakhand Express covers a journey of 784 kms starting from Bhubaneswar to Jagdalpur. It has stoppages at 21 intermediate stations including Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh under East Coast Railway jurisdiction.
