New Delhi, September 02: Indian Railways’ Chandigarh Railway Station has been awarded a 5-star ‘Eat Right Station’ certification by the FSSAI on Thursday. This was given for providing high-quality, nutritious food to the passengers. This certification is granted to railway stations adhering to standard food storage along with hygiene practices.
The 'Eat Right Station' certification is awarded by FSSAI to the stations that set benchmarks in providing wholesome, safe food to passengers. After the FSSAI-empanelled third-party audit agency with ratings from 1 to 5 comes to conclusion, then the station is awarded with the certificate.
If the station gets a 5-star rating, it indicates the exemplary efforts taken by the station to ensure that hygienic and safe food is made available to all passengers.

The certification is part of ‘Eat Right India’ movement. This is a large-scale effort taken by FSSAI to transform India’s food system - to enable the availability of safe, healthy and sustainable food for everyone. Eat Right India follows regulatory, capacity building, collaborative, and empowerment methods, making sure that the food is suitable for both - people and the planet.

Chandigarh Railway Station is the 5th station in India to get this certification. The others include Anand Vihar Terminal Railway Station in Delhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminu in Mumbai, Mumbai Central Railway Station in Mumbai, and lastly Vadodara Railway Station.
