RECORD ALERT! In a first, Indian civil aviation achieves highest numbers since Covid-19, crosses 4 lakh air passengers daily

The Indian aviation industry has crossed a mark of 4,00,000 domestic air passengers a day on Sunday for the first time since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

New Delhi, Oct 11: In a positive development, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed that Indian civil aviation achieved the highest ever numbers since pre-Covid 19. It has witnessed a 4-lakh daily passengers mark.

The airlines carried 4,07,975 passengers on 2,838 flights which amount to about 95.5 percent of pre-Covid-19 daily domestic air passenger traffic. According to the data of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, in the domestic traffic category, there were 7,99,957 airport footfalls, 5,672 aircraft movements, and 3,91,982 arriving passengers.  
 
Scindia talked about the recovery in domestic aviation traffic which crossed the mark of four lakh on October 9. Taking to Twitter, the Minister said, "On the road to full recovery, Indian civil aviation has not only hit the 4-lakh daily passengers mark but also achieved the highest ever numbers since pre Covid 19 era! Way to go."

Speaking about the same, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered praises. He said that his government's focus was to improve the connectivity across the country which was vital for ease of living and economic progress.
While responding to the comment of Scindia regarding the continuous improvement being recorded by the domestic aviation traffic, PM Modi said in a tweet, "Great sign. Our focus is to further improve connectivity across India, which is important for 'Ease of Living' and economic progress."

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Ministry had removed the limits imposed on domestic airfares from August 31. The decision to remove the limits was taken after analysis of daily demand and prices of air turbine fuel.
