After the completion of the 15 km long rail tunnel project, it will be possible to reach Rishikesh to Karnprayag in just 2 hours. 12 stations will be constructed under this project.

Out of these, 10 stations will be under the Himalayas. Only two stations will be built above ground. About 105 km of the railway line will be underground. After the completion of this project, the journey to Badrinath Dham will become easy. The project is targeted to be completed by 2025.

In this project, a 126 km of single track railway line is being constructed. A large number of employment opportunities are expected to be created in this project. A provision of Rs 4200 crore has been made for the project in the financial year 2021-22. The plan is expected to gain momentum once the deadline is fixed.
