According to the data available, in the year 2014-15, 12 kms of the highway was constructed by the National Highways Authority of India; in 2015-16 - 16 kms; 2016-17 - 22 kms; 2017-18 - 26 kms; 2018-19 - 29 kms; 2020-21 - 33 kms; 2021-22 - 36 kms; 2022-23 - 38 kms.

This means that the Modi-led govt is constructing highways across the nation 3 times what used to be constructed during the regime of the UPA govt

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 12 inaugurated a stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway which is set to reduce the travel time between two metro cities to 12 hours. It will also bring cities en route the expressway closer, such as travel between Jaipur and Delhi will reduce to 3 and a half hours from five hours.

Developed at a cost of more than Rs 12,150 crore, this first completed section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will provide a major boost to the economic development of the entire region, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
