New Delhi, March 26: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, while addressing the Forbes India Leadership Awards 2021-22 in Mumbai, said PM Gati Shakti entails geospatial mapping of everything in the country, different layers of maps which talk to each other, leading to integrated planning, with better optimization of time and cost.
He said, "One of the examples is that we are now able to remove the situation of projects getting stuck due to crossing of forest and rail line."

The Gati Shakti programme intends to incorporate infrastructure schemes of various ministries and state governments, including Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, and UDAN scheme, along with economic zones like textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defence corridors, etc to improve connectivity to help make Indian businesses more competitive.
Even as he acknowledged that the economy has lost a few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he said, India's economic situation has vastly improved compared to 2014 when the Narendra Modi govt took charge. “From a fragile economy, the government has made India a trusted economy across the world,” he said.
“India is negotiating from a position of strength today,” he said, adding that India has crossed $400 billion in exports for the first time and is close to touching $250 billion in services export.
