New Delhi, Nov 1: The current additional member (finance) in the Railway Board, Soumya Mathur has become now first woman general manager of North Eastern Railway following the approval of the appointment committee of the cabinet.
Here are a few facts you should know about Soumya Mathur, the first woman general manager of the North Eastern Railway-
1. Mathur joined railway service through the 1987 batch of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS).
2. Her first appointment was in Vadodara, Western Railway.
3. After that, she held several posts in the accounts department on Western, Northern and Central Railway.
4. She is also responsible for Gandhinagar-Jaipur, an all-women main line station.
5. As DRM Jaipur, Soumya Mathur transformed Jaipur railway station, which resulted in Jaipur Station becoming the first station to receive Platinum Green Rating and top rating in the cleanliness survey during her tenure.
