New Delhi, Aug 30: In a significant development, the Indian Railways is all set to introduce sleeper versions of Vande Bharat Express trains, which would run at a speed of 200 km per hour.
It is pertinent to mention that the sleeper version of the semi-high-speed indigenous train will be an alternative to the already existing Rajdhani Express trains. This means the central government is all set to replace Rajdhani trains.
Chennai, which, is in the process of making a prototype sleeper Vande Bharat train, a project for manufacturing 200 Vande Bharat sleeper train sets is underway. Apart from the 200 sleeper Vande Bharat trains, railways is also in the process of finalizing a project for making 100 aluminum Vande Bharat train sets, a first for railways.
According to Indian Railways, Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be superior to Rajdhani Express trains in terms of features, average speed and maintenance.
Besides, the government is also aiming to roll out the exports of indigenous Vande Bharat Express trains. This will be yet another example of Atmanirbhar Bharat going global, according to a report in
