Ahmedabad, September 30: Western Railway is giving immense contribution to infrastructural development of railways in Gujarat. In past few years, a tremendous boost has been given to gauge conversion, electrification, doubling, enhancement of passenger amenities, and many more infrastructural upgradations.
Western Railway has again accomplished a great challenge of completing the newly constructed Broad Gauge doubling work of the Chandisar - Bhildi section, which is a part of Palanpur - Samayakhali doubling project over Ahmedabad division.
The Commissioner of Railway Safety / Western Circle did an inspection of entire section on September 27 and 28, and the speed trial was successfully completed. In it, more than 125 kmph speed was achieved with NIL peak in the OMS readings.

Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, said that the initial authorization has been
rendered to open the newly constructed BG double line Chandisar - Bhildi section for both passenger and also the Goods traffic with initial maximum permissible sectional speed of 95 kmph. The work of doubling is being done by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL). The section has total 37 minor bridges and one important Bridge on Banas River.

Thakur stated that once the entire Palanpur - Samayakhali doubling project is completed, it will accommodate the existing trains and cater to future requirements. It will help in decongesting the train movements and enhance the punctuality of trains. The doubling project would also provide feeder route to Western Dedicated Freight Corridor from Kandla and Tuna ports for the movement of petroleum products and towards North and Eastern parts of India.
