8 expressways developed at Rs 2,36,765 cr under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase 1: Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, May 17: Expressways are a crucial category of the ambitious Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase 1. Hence, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a total of 8 Expressways having a total length 3,852 km, are being developed at total cost of Rs 2,36,765 crores.

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari shared this through a tweet. He stated, "Under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji, the Expressways are crucial category of the ambitious #Bharatmala Pariyojana Under Phase -1, total of 8 Expressways of total length 3,852 km are being developed at total cost of ₹2,36,765 Cr."
 
 
There will be 5 main expressways built under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase 1 - Delhi-Mumbai expressway of 1,400 kms at the cost of Rs 1 lakh cr, Ahmedabad-Dholera expressway of 110 kms, at Rs 4,200 cr, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway of 670 kms at the cost of Rs 40,000 cr, the Bengaluru-Chennai expressway of 262 kms at Rs 17, 000 cr, and the Kanpur-Lucknow expressway of 63 kms at the cost of Rs 4,100 cr.

There will also be 3 additional expressways built - the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijaywada expressway of 342.5 kms at Rs 19,320 cr, the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata expressway of 592 kms at the cost of Rs 28,500 cr, and the Atal Progressway of 411.5 kms at the cost of Rs 23,645 crs.

Gadkari also recently shared the aim to build a network of 18,000 Kms of highway across the country in the FY 2022-2023. The minister also said that the Indian govt aimed to construct highways at a record speed of 50 kms per day. The Union govt aims to construct 2 lakh kms of ‘National Highway Networks’ by 2025.
