New Delhi, September 1: The work of track doubling between Roha (Central Railway) and Veer (Konkan Railway) which spans 47 km was completed. This project had started in October 2016.
The first train on this double-tracked route, 02619 Lokmanya Tilak (T), Mangaluru Central Special passed from Roha at 7.35 PM on Monday, and in the opposite direction was trained no. 06346 Thiruvanthapuram Central – Lokmanya Tilak (T) Special reached at 8.17 PM at Roha, said a press note by Konkan Railways. The total cost of this project was Rs. 530 crores.
The double-tracking of this route will reduce bottlenecks in this section and will also enhance the line capacity. Baban Ghatge, who is the Deputy General Manager of Public Relations at Konkan Railways said that the double-tracking would completely improve the efficiency of the train operations.
The electrification of this route between Roha to Verna and Verna to Thokur in Mangaluru too, is about to be completed and will likely be done by December.
